The United States Agency for International Development USAID has applauded His Excellency, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State over his efforts to address the numerous challenges bedeviling Katsina State and has expressed interest in discussing potential partnerships for mutual benefit with the Katsina State Government.
Melissa Jones, USAID’s Mission Director, gave the nod and commendation during a recent meeting with the governor at the US Embassy in Abuja.
Ms. Jones also assured the Katsina State Government that USAID would consider their recent request favourably and expressed hope for its swift implementation.
Among the request put forward after several productive technical meetings between KTSG and relevant stakeholders of USAID includes:
Following several productive technical meetings with USAID stakeholders, the Katsina State Government expresses keen interest in collaborating with USAID on the Power Africa and Prosper Africa initiatives, recognising the transformative potential of sustainable energy and economic development.
The State Government also put forward funding request for interventions in three areas through the office of the SDG. This includes: Project KTSG 2.0, the Dikko Urban Sweep and the Mafita Almajiri Program.
° Project KTSG 2.0: A comprehensive reform initiative aimed at enhancing public
institution effectiveness and efficiency.
Specifically, Project KTSG 2.0 aims to conduct an in-depth assessment of Katsina State Government’s institutional
structures, identify areas of weaknesses, inefficiencies, and gaps in institutional capacity.
It also aims to implement capacity building programmes, establish a filing management system, visitor management system for the Governor and Deputy Governor’s Office, and upgrade its website.
○ The Dikko Urban Sweep: An ambitious urban health and well-being initiative aims to improve urban sanitation, fumigation, air quality, and green space provision.
○ Mafita Almajiri Program: A project designed to promote social inclusion of
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) by empowering IDP and host communities,
improving resilience, and enhancing social cohesion.
The Katsina State Government and USAID will collaboratively develop these initiatives, with a detailed action plan outlining the implementation timeline,
responsibilities, and resource requirements for all proposed initiatives.
This also aims at continuous engagement between relevant stakeholders from both Katsina State Government and USAID to ensure alignment and buy-in
and as well set clear milestones and performance indicators to monitor progress and measure the
impact of each initiative.
The Katsina State Government expresses its unwavering commitment to fostering
meaningful partnerships with USAID for the collective advancement of our communities. Through collaboration, we can create lasting impact and drive positive change in Katsina State and beyond.
