In its determination to improve farming activities towards ensuring food security in Bauchi State, the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReASAL) Projects with the support of the state government has facilitated the provision of 20 brand new (2024) tractors in view of the demands of tractors by farmers across the state.
The project has also procured 94 Rice milling, 470 knapsack sprayer machine, 47 multipurpose thresher , 47 decorticating machine, and 6 animal feed crusher which would be provided to farmers on hire purchase.
The State Project Coordinator Dr. Ibrahim Kabir Gamawa who made this known while interacting with journalists in Bauchi said the move was to support farmers towards massive food production.
Dr. Ibrahim Kabir Gamawa said the state Governor Bala Mohammed inaugurated the machines during the launch of 2024 farming season and sales of fertilizer held in Dass Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, implementation of the ACReASAL Project which has three major components of Land Restoration, Community Resilience and Institutional Strengthening has significantly improved the environmental standard and living condition of people across the state.
Dr. Kabir noted that plans are being made for the planting of over one million trees in areas facing environmental challenges under Acreasal greening the environment, saving lives initiative which is targeting to restore one million hectares of degraded land.
The state project coordinator said the procurement of two vehicles for safari at Yankari games reserve and renovation of public convenience at wikki warm spring increased revenue generation by attracting tourists.
He commended Governor Bala Mohammed’s led administration for complementing effort of the World Bank Assisted Project through the release of counterpart fund to facilitate execution of various projects.
