A fatal accident occurred at Kanya Babba town has resulted in the death of 14 people while four others sustained severe injuries.
The tragedy occurred on Tuesday, June 16, 2024, at approximately 11:20 am, when a DAF truck and a Toyota Hiace collided.
According to eyewitness, the Toyota Hiace was traveling at a high speed and in an attempt to dodge Immigration’s checkpoint the two vehicles collided, leaving 14 occupants of the Hiace dead, four others suffered severe injuries.
The Divisional Police Officer of Kanya Babba mobilized his men went to the scene where they evacuated the victims to Kanya Babba Cottage Hospital.
The 14 passenger were confirmed dead by a Doctor on duty, while the injured ones are receiving medical attention.
The Jigawa State Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam said the police have launched an investigation into the incident, with the driver of the Toyota Hiace suspected for reckless driving, added that the corpse of the victims will soon be release to their families for burial.
