It is evident that the Kaduna APC is not for the young men of Kaduna and has shifted from being a party of the masses to a party of the capitalist class.
Years ago, the Kaduna APC took a commendable direction by making all processes fair for young aspiring politicians in Kaduna State. This enabled many leaders to attain office without excessive spending, unlike the current situation in the Kaduna APC today.
The economic hardship has severely impacted the lives of many young men in the country, particularly in Kaduna State. This hardship has motivated young men to enter the political system to effect change, rather than resorting to complaints, insults, and riots.
The APC Kaduna State Elections Guidelines clearly send a message to the young men of Kaduna that the Kaduna APC is against their participation in state politics. This is unfair and contradicts the ‘Not Too Young To Run Bill’ and the National Youth Policy.
The reasons behind such improper guidelines and requirements are unclear, but the Kaduna APC should at least review these guidelines.
Young men aiming to contest should face fewer obstacles after tax clearance, consultations, permutations, and mobilizations for the elections.
I call on His Excellency, Distinguished Sen. Uba Sani, the self-proclaimed ‘Governor of the masses and for the masses,’ to demonstrate the truth behind these slogans. I urge him to show mercy to the young aspiring politicians in Kaduna State and to ensure meritocracy in the process.
Ambassador Shuaibu Gomna.
