The Edo State NNPP Governorship Candidate in the upcoming election, Dr Azemhe Azena, was in Kano to attend this year’s Tree planting Campaign, with the theme “Stand Together Growing Together”.
The Program which was aimed at combating the effects of Climate change in Kano State by planting a million trees, was organized by the Kano State Government under the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change headed by Hon Nasiru Sule Garo.
This year’s event which took place at the popular Kwankwasiyya City, along Zaria road in Kano, had in attendance, the esteemed executive Governor of Kano State, Alh Abba Kabir Yusuf and his cabinet members led by the Commissioner for Environment.
The Presence of the 16th Emir of Kano, Khalifa Mohammed Sanusi II, spiced up the occasion with a traditional touch even as he spoke extensively about the menace of changing weather conditions in Kano due to climate change.
Dr Azemhe Azena, who planted a tree at the occasion alongside the State Governor and the Emir of Kano, while speaking to newsmen expressed delight at the Governor’s resolve to give personal attention to environmental issues and the well-being of his people.
He however followed the Governor on an impromptu tour of the popular Governor College Kano, which was in a deplorable state and urgently needed a facelift.
