Zamfara State Government has sensitized local government officials and other stakeholders on budget across 14 local government areas of the state.
In a statement by the Public Relation Officer, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair, Abdullahi Muhammad BirninMagaji made available to newsmen in Gusau.
The statement said the three days workshop was organized by the state ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs under the leadership of Hon. Ahmad Garba Yandi to educate officials handling budget at the local government level.
The target officials for the sensitization include, the Council Chairman, Director Finance and Director Planning from each local government.
During the event presentations were made on budget preparation, adjustment and correction where necessary.
In his address the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ahmad Garba Yandi said the workshop was necessary to correct errors made in the previous year’s budget.
He therefore called on participants to pay attention and make good use of the knowledge acquired from the interaction.
Also speaking the Chairman House Committee on local government, Hamisu A. Faru said the seminar was timely, and promised the steady passing of budget to enable proceed with it developmental projects.
The Auditor General, Aminu Mamanga said his officers would thoroughly check the budget to ensure efficient fund utilization.
While the ALGON Chairman, Alhaji Kasimu Kaura commended the Ministry for the initiative, adding that this will go along way in sharping the skills in the preparation of budget.
