Security operatives have embarked on house to house search for the recovery of items looted in the wake of violence unrest, as report indicate that hundreds of suspected looters have gone into hiding.
It was gathered that, unscrupulous individuals among the protesters hijacked the nationwide protests, vandalized and looted both public and private property across the state.
Hotpen reports that, the miscreants looted stores where assorted food items include rice, maize, and fertilizers worth several millions of naira are kept.
It was further gathered that, the miscreants took the stolen commodities to their houses while others disposed it to their neighbors and general public at cheaper prices.
Consequently, a bag of rice sold at market price between N70,000-N80,000, was disposed at N20,000 while bag of fertilizer market price stood at N30,000 the miscreants sold at N5,000 at give away price.
The development compelled security operatives to embarked on house to house search to fish out the perpetrators .
Early report has indicated that the operation has yielded positive results which made some of the suspects to fled their respective homes to other places to avoid arrest.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Jigawa State Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed that 13 suspects were arrested and a substantial amount of looted items recovered.
He said the recovery items include : 316 bales of mosquito nets, 114 bags of fertilizer, 1 motorcycle, 7 solar panels, Food items such as hibiscus flowers, guinea corn, and more.
DSP Shiishu stated further that office equipment and furniture, including chairs, fans, refrigerators, and doors were recovered from various houses of the suspected miscreants.
