Hundreds of aggrieved citizens from Ringim local government staged a peaceful protest at the Government House in Jigawa, calling for the immediate removal of Hon. Muttaka Namadi, the Commissioner of Agriculture.
The protesters, comprising youth, women, political leaders, and business owners, blocked the main entrance and chanted slogans, expressing their disappointment with Namadi’s performance.
Malam Bashir Muhammad DanMalam, speaking on behalf of the protesters, accused Namadi of neglecting his constituents and engaging in anti-party activities.
Saying the commissioner has failed to bring meaningful development to our area and does not represent us well in government.
DanMalam said. “It’s time for him to resign or face a vote of no confidence.”
The protesters alleged that Namadi’s incompetence, sabotage, and anti-party actions would lead to APC losing members and supporters to opposition parties. DanMalam hailed the protest as a triumph for democracy and accountability, demonstrating the power of collective action and commitment to good governance.
Hotpen reports that, security personnel and government officials attempted to intervene, but the protesters insisted on delivering their grievances directly to Governor Mal. Umar Namadi.
However, the party chairman, Hon. Aminu Sani, received their letter and assured them that he would convey their message to the governor for appropriate action.
This development comes amidst concerns from APC stalwarts that Governor Namadi’s incompetent appointments may jeopardize his re-election bid in 2027.
