Security operatives in Katsina State have successfully rescued eight female victims and a young boy who were kidnapped in a recent attack on Unguwar Awa Village, Malumfashi Local Government Area of the state.
Dr. Mua’zu Danmusa, the Commissioner of Security and Internal Affairs, in a statement issued on Friday, disclosed this following a distress call from the community on September 13, 2024, at approximately 6:30 AM, said the armed bandits had invaded the village, firing indiscriminately and eventually abducting the victims.
A team of Police Officers from the Malumfashi Division of the Katsina State Command, supported by the Katsina State Community Watch and military personnel, swiftly responded and intercepted the kidnappers near Burdugau Village. A fierce gun battle ensued around the village, forcing the bandits to flee under heavy fire. The kidnapped victims were safely secured and reunited with their families.
The Katsina State Government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its residents and will continue to work tirelessly with the security forces to combat crime and apprehend those responsible for such heinous acts across the state.
