The first lady and wife of Jigawa state governor, Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi, has distributed 60,000 exercise books to pupils of public primary and junior secondary schools in the state.
Speaking when while flagging off the distribution exercise at Dangan Tsaure Nomadic School in Dutse, Mrs Namadi said, the project is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative for Basic Educational Support, championed by Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the President.
“I’m happy to welcome you all to the flagging off of the distribution of 60,000 copies of the Renewed Hope initiative exercise books for public primary school pupils and junior secondary school students across Jigawa state.
“The schools will resume next week for the commencement of 2024/2025 first term, the time parents will be battling to pay school fees, buy new uniforms and books for their children.
“I am optimistic that, the donation of the exercise book will support parents by reducing the money they spend on their children as they resumed schools for the first term, also it will encourage the students on learning and enhance the academic performance of our children.” Namadi said.
She therefore, urged the parents to support government effort by ensuring their children attend school regularly for preparing them to be good leaders of tomorrow.
In her remarks, the Executive Secretary, Jigawa State Agency for Nomadic Education, Hajiya Ramatu Muhammad, commended the first ladies for the kind gesture.
She noted that the gesture would encourage school enrollment, participation and retention among children, particularly nomadic ones in the state.
