A special delegation from the House of Representatives, led by Alhassan Ado Doguwa, visited Maiduguri on Tuesday to commiserate with the government and people of Borno State over the recent flood disaster.
The delegation, representing Speaker Tajuddeen Abbas and the entire House, donated ₦100 million to support affected victims.
In a statement by the former Majority leader, Doguwa praised President’s swift response and pledged the National Assembly’s cooperation with the federal government to establish a legislative framework/ budgetary intervention to address flood impacts.
“We also pledged the National Assembly’s readiness to liased with the federal Government to come up with a legislative framework or any possible budgetary intervention to help states government to address the impacts of flood disaster in the country.
The statement by the Kano state born lawmaker revealed that during their visit, “the delegation also condoled with the Shehu of Borno at his palace, paying respects to lives lost in the disaster.”
