The Jigawa state government has approved a whopping sum of N35.8 billion for various developmental projects aimed at boosting education, agriculture, and youth employment.
In a weekly state executive council chaired by Governor Mal. Umar A. Namadi approved N2.56bn for construction, renovation, procurement, and sanitation in state basic schools across 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
The council in session has equally set aside N1.05bn for renovation of primary and junior secondary schools damaged by wind in all 27 LGAs.
It also approved N26.27bn for the purchase of 300 tractors, disc ploughs, disc harrows, and other equipment. The project also includes training 30 master technicians in China at a cost of N263.16m.
“The agricultural project is expected to employ 2,700 youth initially, with plans to establish 60 centers across 30 state constituencies”.
Furthermore, the council signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) to establish an ICAN Student special project center in Dutse.
Shading more light on the approvals, Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Nura Ibrahim Kazaure, said, “These projects demonstrate our commitment to improving the lives of Jigawa populace particularly in education, agriculture, and youth employment.”
