Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has addressed pressing issues concerning social media misuse and shed light on the state’s ongoing initiatives.
The Governor made this known during an interview with the Media Team of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, led by its Director General, Folorunsho Aluko.
Governor Radda expressed deep concern over the proliferation of some misleading information on social media platforms, warning that such content could potentially escalate crises in the country.
The Governor suggested implementing robust control mechanisms to address ethical misconduct in digital spaces, noting that some countries have successfully regulated such content on their platforms.
“The spread of false information on social media poses a significant threat to our national stability,” Governor Radda stated.
“We must find a balance between freedom of expression and responsible reporting to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens.”
Turning to state affairs, the Governor affirmed his administration’s commitment to the “Building Your Future” blueprint, a comprehensive plan aimed at providing equal opportunities across all sectors of the state.
He emphasized that this blueprint has been guiding the government’s actions, ensuring due consideration for all areas of development.
Addressing the healthcare sector, Governor Radda revealed that the state government had launched an online portal to recruit qualified doctors. However, he noted that out of the fourty positions available, only about fifteen were filled initially.
In response to this challenge, the administration has initiated an overseas training program for medical personnel.
“We’ve sent our first batch of fourty-one medical professionals to Egypt to pursue degree programs in medicine,” the Governor announced.
“This initiative is part of our broader strategy to enhance the quality and quantity of our healthcare workforce.”
Governor Radda concluded the interview by directing the media team to conduct thorough visits to various ministries to gather more information on the government’s ongoing commitments and achievements.
“Transparency is key to our governance,” the Governor stressed. “We welcome the media to explore and report on the strides we’re making across all sectors of our state administration.”
