A nursing hippocampus has attacked and killed one, Malam Usman a security guard while fishing in the river at Tillo village in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to the Source, the deceased, a security man of Orchard Farms owned by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Yauri, Muhammad Zayyanu-Abdullahi met his untimely death when the hippopotamus attacked him while fishing.
The Source added that the dangerous animal perceived the man as an endangered specie, who intentionally came to harm its baby, hence the attack against him in self defense.
The deceased has since been buried according to Islamic injunctions amidst thousands of sympathisers who came from different parts of the local government area.
Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu in his condolence message to the family of the deceased, Yauri emirate and the local government council prayed to Allah to forgive him and reward him with Aljannar-firdausi in the hereafter.
The governor also urged the deceased’s family, emir of Yauri and the people of Yauri local government to accept the incident as an act of Allah which nobody can stop it from happening.
