A former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Sani Takori has called for collaborative effort between state and federal government to win the war against banditry, instead of the current blame game.
Tokari in a statement, expressed over the recent media war between, Governor Dauda Lawal and Minister of State Defense, Bello Matawalle.
He said instead of the two leaders to bury their political differences and join hands to defeat bandits and banditry, but turned it be fighting in the media.
According to him, the appointment of Matawalle as Minister of State Defense may support the fight against banditry in the state.
“If the two of you support each other than together you will achieve victory over these monster that had destroyed lives and properties and increase high level of poverty of our people”, he stressed.
Takori, a former Attorney General in Zamfara state categorically stated that blame game is defeatist attitude, therefore, should not be promoted.
He said that what ever are the bitter political rivalry between Lawal and Matawalle the disturbing activities of bandits ought compel them to unite and defeat them to save lives of the innocent people.
The Lawmaker explained that, the Minister of State Defense was Coordinating the fight against bandits on behalf of the President, Tinubu who is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.
“The President is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the federal Republic of Nigeria, the President under our constitution had right to delegate any of his ministers to undertake any assignments on his behalf such constitutional right was the reason that minister of State defence and all service chief were sent on a mission to fight and defeat the bandits”, he said.
He wondered how the federal government good gesture could turn out be something else, rather than praises and commendation.
“Many of us were surprised how these well intended gesture of the federal government was turned into bitter enemity and exchange of bitter words as if you are not happy with these development”, he added.
Takor I stressed that, the criticism against Matawalle on the mission to end banditry in the North West was uncalled for, as act of banditry had destroyed the entire region and looking for solution.
“Solidarity is not an act of charity but a mutual understanding between the forces fighting for the same objective”, The Lawmaker explained.
He therefore, appealed for more understanding and collaboration between the state and federal government in the fight against bandits for the people to have peace in the area.
