The Director General of the National Directorate of Employment, Silas Ali Agara has revealed that plans are on the pipeline to create 55,806 Jobs for the teeming and unemployed Youths in the country.
He opined that the effort was a deliberate move to combat the scourge of unemployment in country , Agara asserted that NDE has swung into action to revitalize the Directorate and restore its reputation as a thriving hub of employment opportunities.
This initiative, According to the Director General is in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, aimed at steering the nation toward a positive economic trajectory.
Asserting that youths are the backbone of every developed nation, He however emphasized that the slogan “Youths Must Breathe” is non-negotiable.
He insists on the imperative need to mentor young people and equip them with entrepreneurial skills that are in high demand in today’s labor market.
To take decisive action, Agara outlined a diverse range of skills development programs focusing on sectors such as agriculture, Communication Technology, and specialized public works, among others.
Adding that these initiatives are designed to provide youths with the tools they need to excel in their chosen fields while contributing to the overall development of the economy.
In addition to these skills programs, Agara announced that NDE will collaborate with private sector partners to enhance employment opportunities.
By forging partnerships with industries, the Directorate aims to create a more direct link between training and job placements, ensuring that graduates of these programs have viable pathways into the workforce.
Moreover, Silas Agara highlighted the importance of digital literacy in today’s job market. The Directorate plans to implement training sessions aimed at equipping youths with essential tech skills, enabling them to navigate the evolving landscape of employment opportunities that digital platforms offer.
The DG also addressed the need for soft skills training, such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. These skills are crucial for workplace success and will be integrated into the training modules to ensure a well-rounded approach to youth empowerment.
As the Directorate embarks on this ambitious plan to create 55,806 job opportunities, Silas Agara called upon stakeholders, including State Government’s and community leaders, to support these initiatives actively.
Urging them to recognize the potential of the youth as catalysts for change and to invest in their development to foster sustainable economic growth.
