Kebbi State government has rescued nineteen Children from Human Traffickers enroute to Cross River State from Birnin Kebbi in Kebbi State.
Speaking at a Press Conference held at Government House in Birnin Kebbi, Governor, Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu disclosed that the victims whom were on the ages between 6, 8 and 10 were successfully rescued with the aid of the combined team of NAPTIP officials, security personnel and other volunteers .
Idris said “
Information received from the victims indicated that they forced in to sexual abuse and labour by their snatchers which he described as unfortunate and the first of its kind to happened in Kebbi State.”
The Governor explained that his administration will do everything possible to take necessary measures against reoccurance of such incident in the state.
He also commended the efforts of the officials of NAPTP and other combined team of the Security who rescued the innocent children back home from the hands of criminals.
He assured that government will ensure the culprits were arrested and prosecuted according to high profile law.
Governor Idris however called on parents and guardians to always keep vigil on their children movement so as to avoid being snatched away by unknown dare-devils in the society.
He lamented that when his administration was busy spending huge amount on education sector for children to get education, some parents and guardians are shown lukewarm attitudes in sending their children to schools.
