The Gombe State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has joined the people of Gombe and Nigeria to mark two major milestones: Gombe’s 28th anniversary and Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day.
In a statement signed by Malam Faruk Muazu, Chairman of the NUJ Gombe, and made available to news men on Tuesday.
He highlighted that Gombe’s 28th anniversary showcases the dedication and efforts of the state’s founders, who aimed for a future filled with prosperity and growth. Today, the state stands as proof of their dreams and hard work.
“Nigeria, meanwhile, celebrates 64 years of independence from colonial rule, achieved on October 1, 1960. This day is a reflection of the sacrifices made by the nation’s heroes and the enduring strength of the Nigerian people in pushing towards progress and unity.
“We warmly congratulate His Excellency, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya, Governor of Gombe State and Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum, and His Highness, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, the Emir of Gombe and Chairman of the Gombe State Council of Emirs and Chiefs.
“We also celebrate the resilience and contributions of the people of Gombe and all Nigerians,” he said
Muazu reaffirmed the NUJ Gombe State Council’s commitment to unbiased journalism, constructive criticism, and the promotion of national unity for the continuous progress of both Gombe and Nigeria.
