As the local government election drawn nearer, 5th October, in the 27 local government areas of Jigawa state, the campaign has turn to violence as hoodlums attacked chairmanship candidate.
The unfortunate incident occurred at Ariki ward of Malam Madori local government where some unidentified hoodlums attacked the campaign rally team of the local government chairmanship of Malam Madori.
It was reported that the hoodlums have attacked the chairmanship supporters as many were injured and several vehicles destroyed.
According to an eyewitness name (withheld) said the hoodlums have tried to lynched the chairmanship contestant together with his councillorship but with the intervention of some samaritans he was able to escape death.
The eye witness added that many cars used for the campaign were destroyed, as their windscreens got smashed by the irate hoodlums in the area.
Hotpen reports that, many local government chairmanship candidates have commenced their campaign rallies to solicit the support and cooperation of the electorates ahead of October 5 council’s election in the state.
Contacted, Spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force, Jigawa State Command, DSP Lawan Shiishu said he has not received any information regarding the unfortunate incident.
