The Zamfara state police command has arrested three foreigners from Burkina faso in connection with illegal mining and banditry in Zamfara state.
The state Commissioner of Police Mohammed Dalijan, made the pronouncement during the parade of the suspects at the command headquarters in Gusau the capital city of the state Wednesday.
According to him the suspects have been arrested along Anka local government forest where the bandits kingpin Late Halilu Sububu’s mining fit is located.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects are ten motorcycles, huge mining parapanaliance.
The police commissioner further stated that three additional criminals were also arrested by the command from Niger Republic with three fabricated AK 47 .
“The command is working to identify those who are manufacturing such kind of the fabricated local AK 47 belonging to our suspects who are from Niger Republic in the state and arrested them”. He said
According to him, the command had arrested ten additional illegal miners from Talata Mafara along with many bags of minerals processing chemicals including CNI chemicals who are indigents of the state.
Muhammad Dalijan reemphasize his command efforts to ensure the banned of mining by the federal government is fully working.
“The federal government has in 2019 banned all mining activities in the state and our personnel are working round the clock to arrest anyone found wanting or violating the directive given by the federal government in that case”. He added
The Commissioner noted that the suspects will be charged to court after the intensive investigation by the command .
In an interview with newsmen, the federal mining officer Zamfara state branch of the federal ministry of mine and solid minerals development, Engr. Samuel Abunuman said, his office is working closely with all the relevant security agencies in the state to ensure both licenses and illegal miners vacated from all mining sites in the state.
“We are working together with all the security agencies in the state to ensure that there is no mining activities in the state as directed by the federal government for peace to thrive”. He added.
