Creating intervals between birth of children improves the overall health and survival of the children and mothers which resulted in reducing high rate of maternal and infant
death.
A University Don and Lecturer with Federal University Dutse, Dr. Itar Abdul-RazaQ Rilwan stated this while presenting a paper Title “Family Planning/Child Birth Spacing a Critical Components in Population Management, Improving Maternal and New born Child Health, Growth and Sustainable Development”
Dr. Itar presented the paper during a Media roundtable meeting with state actors and other stakeholders, organized to come up with more strategies for promoting Family Planing through advocacy and public enlightenment supported by TCI and DevComs.
He further described adequate child spacing as an important component in reducing risk of mothers complication and improving the reproductive health outcome in the society.
According to him children born after adequate spacing tend to have more access to maternal care which could also reduce cases of malnutrition and stunting rates that were among the cases Jigawa state have been battling to control.
He said:-“Families that are using child spacing tend to have more resources and time to cater for the education, health, proper training and Inculcating moral discipline of their children for better upbringing”.
According to him family planning helps the state or society to have better chances for population management, resource allocation, achieving zero hunger, poverty eradication, and enhancing public service delivery for sustainable growth and development.
Speaking, the TCI representative, Mss Blessing Muhammed said, TCI have been providing support in Jigawa state through four Symantec areas that include, Advocacy, Demands Generation, Services Delivery and Research/Monitoring/Evaluation for government to achieve sustainable improvement in Maternal and New born Child Health (MN CH) outcome.
“Our goal in TCI is to sustain improvements in urban health systems and increase the use of modern contraception. innovative approach to ensures leadership and government-driven programming to enhance the scale, impact, efficiency, and sustainability of FP programs”. Blessing stated
Speaking on behalf of media working group in Jigawa state. Comrade Muhammad Zangina promised to join hands with the Government, Partners and other critical stakeholders to support the improvement of reproductive health in all aspects for enhancing Child survival,and family wellbeing.
