Yobe State Government has approved the sum of ₦1,436,5000 billion as support to 25,500 and each survivors of 2024 flood disaster across the 17 LGAs of the state can get about #50.000 cash transfer in an effort to reduce the hardship of the people suffered by flooding in the entire state.
This was made known by the state commissioner, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Dr. Mairo Ahmed Amshi, while briefing journalists in Damaturu after the state executive council meeting Chaired by governor Mai Mala Buni of the State.
The particular briefing was made jointly with the state Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Ali Mustapha Goneri; Commissioner of Commerce, Kaigama Umar Yunusari as well as state Commissioner of Works, Engineer Umaru Wakil Duddaye respectively.
According to the humanitarian Affairs commissioner, the money was approved during the EXCO after submitting a memo by the ministry for multi-purpose cash assistance (MPCE) to 2024 flood victims in the state as a post disaster recovery strategy.
The commissioner noted that a survey has been conducted across 17 LGAs where 150 target locations have been identified as of now.
In additional to this a total of 1,500 flood victims in each of the 17 LGAs, 50,000 per head, will benefit from the cash support by the state council.
According to her, “The humanitarian ministry is working in collaboration with all other international organisation partners and some identified banks where the money will be sent directly to the beneficiaries in each of the 178 wards in the state particular the wards suffered by the flooding.
During the briefing the Commissioner of works, Engineer Duddaye, stated that at the State Executive Council meeting, the council has approved the rectification of the construction the historical roads from Fika to Maluri and Gashua to Masaba whom their people suffered a lot for long time for lack of good roads.
According to him obviously the particular roads approved by the executive council are expected to be completed before the end of 2024 by the will of our Almighty Allah.
