Prof. Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, has reaffirmed federal government’s dedication to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
In an interview at the Federal Ministry of Health and Welfare’s 2024 Ministerial Leadership Retreat in Bauchi, Prof.Pate outlined several initiatives aimed at fortifying the healthcare system, in Bauchi State alone the FG.
“Establishes a new permanent site for the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi
“Upgrading diagnostic centers and establishing a VVF center in Ningi, Bauchi, serving the North East and surrounding states.
“Improving healthcare services in Primary Health Care centers (PHCs) across the country,” he said
Prof. Pate emphasized that achieving UHC requires collaboration with stakeholders, including state governments, healthcare professionals, and development partners
“We recognize that achieving universal health coverage requires a collective effort.
“We are committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure that Nigerians receive the best possible healthcare.” Pate said

The retreat facilitated critical dialogue between the Ministry’s leadership, paving the way for enhanced healthcare services nationwide.
By prioritizing UHC, the Nigerian government aims to ensure that all citizens have access to quality healthcare, regardless of geographical location or socio-economic status.
