The management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto has debunked rumours of attack by suspected bandits in the wee hours of yesterday Monday.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Lawal Bilbis debunked the rumour as fake, peddled by some misguided elements with a view to cause confusion in the University.
Professor Bilbis explained that, what happened reported was an incussion by armed Robbers at the University mini mart who were later over run by security operatives.
The VC while trying to disabused the minds of students on the matter around 11 pm yesterday, said the rumour of Bandits attack was being peddled by those who does not wish the University Community well especially now that, new students are being admitted.
His words:-“We have already alerted various security agencies in the state on the need to intensify surveillance in and around the University.
“The attack was not a Banditry as being speculated in some quarters, wish to call on members of the general public as well as parents to remain calm as there is no cause for alarm over the security of lives of students in the University”.
The Vice Chancellor further commended the security agents as well as the internal security architecture of the school for their prompt response to the incident.
