The Kebbi State Chapter of the Customs Officers Wives Association ( COWA) has planted about hundred trees in order to tackle the menace of desertification in the state.
The Chapter accordingly, has donated twelve large number of dusbin containers for proper waste disposal and recycling of plastic waste in the Customs’s offices and domestic in the state.
Speaking during plantation programme held at the Customs headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, COWA chairperson, Mrs Farida Mahmoud Matawalle said ” We are not just planting trees but, we are planting hope, sustainability, and a healthier future for our environment and our nation. “
According to her, Across Nigeria, COWA at the national level is undertaking a powerful initiative to plant 1,000 trees which was already performed by the COWA President, Mrs Kikelomo Basheer Adeniyi which her leadership and vision continued to drive this impactful initiative across the country.
” In line with COWA’s Green initiative and our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, we are donating twelve large dusbins containers for proper waste disposal and recycling, especially for plastic waste in all parts of the Customs’s environments in Kebbi State. ” Said Mrs Matawalle.
I must commended the efforts of my husband, the Customs Comptroller in Kebbi, Mahmoud Matawalle for his immense support and cooperation in making this excercise a success ‘ She added.
