Workers at BAGCO, a manufacturing company in Sharada, Kano, have gone on strike, halting operations, over alleged exploitation and poor working conditions.
Hotpen reports that, the workers are demanding better pay, improved working conditions, and equal treatment.
They claim they’ve been working long hours (11-13 hours daily) without adequate rest, and some have not been paid decent wages. Specifically, engineers receive over N400,000 monthly, while other staff get less than N80,000.
The workers also accused the company of using a food vendor to deduct excessive food costs from their salaries and exploiting casual workers through a third-party company, Global Manpower.

They’re calling on the Kano State government to intervene, ensure fair treatment, and prioritize hiring locals. They also want the company to remove the food vendor, improve conditions, and fire Global Manpower staff.
The workers urged immediate action to address these grievances and ensure justice.
Effort to contact management of the company to comment on the issue proved abortive.
