The Jigawa State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) has expressed profound appreciation to Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi for approving ₦2 billion in the 2026 Second Quarter Budget for the implementation of critical water supply and sanitation projects across the state.
In a letter of appreciation addressed to the Governor, the Managing Director of RUWASSA, Engr. Abubakar Sidi, described the approval as a clear demonstration of the administration’s commitment to improving the living conditions of rural communities and ensuring access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities.
According to him, the approved funds will be utilized for the construction of 183 new hand-pump boreholes, installation of 63 solar-powered boreholes, conversion of 37 existing hand-pump boreholes to simple solar-powered systems, and provision of 17 sanitation facilities in schools and health centres across the state.
Engr. Sidi noted that the intervention aligns with Governor Namadi’s “Water for All” agenda and the Sustainable Development Goal Six (SDG 6), which focuses on ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
He said the projects would significantly reduce the challenges of water scarcity in rural communities, improve hygiene standards in schools and healthcare facilities, and enhance the overall well-being of thousands of residents.
The RUWASSA Managing Director assured the governor of the agency’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and timely execution of the projects, stressing that every kobo allocated would be judiciously utilized to achieve the desired impact.
He further thanked Governor Namadi for prioritizing the needs of the rural populace and reaffirmed the agency’s loyalty and support towards the successful implementation of the administration’s development programmes.
