The Emir of Biu, Alhaji Mustapha Umar Mustapha II, alongside the 27 District Heads and key stakeholders of the Biu Emirate, has unanimously endorsed Alhaji Ali Isa Abdullahi as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy Governorship Candidate and running mate to the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Engineer Mustapha Gubio, for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced on Saturday during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Government House in Maiduguri.
The meeting was presided over by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and attended by prominent political leaders, lawmakers, traditional rulers and APC stakeholders from across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the Emirate, the Emir of Biu described Ali Isa Abdullahi as a proud son of Biu and dismissed claims questioning his indigene status.
He stated that the Abdullahi family has longstanding roots in Biu and expressed appreciation to Governor Zulum for selecting him as the party’s deputy governorship candidate.
The Emir pledged the full support of the Emirate to the APC ticket, expressing confidence in Abdullahi’s ability to work alongside Engineer Gubio to sustain the developmental gains achieved under the current administration.
Responding, Governor Zulum thanked the Emir, district heads and stakeholders for their solidarity. He described the emergence of the APC ticket as an act of divine providence and urged party supporters to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.
The governor emphasized that unity is critical to sustaining peace, stability and development in Borno State, while cautioning against divisive narratives capable of undermining the state’s progress. Before his nomination, Abdullahi served as Director-General of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
