The Niger State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Abdulraham Idris Lefene, has felicitated with the former Military President of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, on the occasion of his 85th birthday, describing him as a remarkable Nigerian statesman whose contributions to the nation remain significant.
Comrade Lefene, in a congratulatory message, said General Babangida’s years of service to Nigeria were characterised by bold leadership, courage and a strong commitment to national development. He noted that his contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s political, economic and infrastructural institutions remain worthy of recognition.
According to him, General Babangida demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities during his time as Nigeria’s Head of State, particularly through initiatives and policies aimed at strengthening national unity, promoting economic development and opening new frontiers for infrastructure and institutional growth.
The NLC chairman further described the former President as a leader with an enduring commitment to national unity, noting that his experience, wisdom and understanding of Nigeria’s complex political landscape have continued to make him an important voice in national affairs.
Lefene said the people of Niger State were particularly proud of General Babangida, a distinguished son of the state, whose contributions to the development and visibility of Niger State on the national stage would continue to be remembered and appreciated by generations.
“On behalf of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Niger State Council, I warmly felicitate with His Excellency, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, on the occasion of his 85th birthday. We celebrate his life of service, leadership and patriotism, and pray Almighty God to grant him continued good health, wisdom and many more years in peace and fulfilment,” Lefene said.
