The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), in collaboration with Jennymond Systems Ltd., has trained 50 automobile technicians and youths in Maiduguri, Borno, on the conversion of petrol-powered vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
Mr James Dare, a representative of Jennymond Systems Ltd., stated this at the end of the two-week training and presentation of starter packs to the participants on Friday in Maiduguri.
Dare said the first batch comprised 50 beneficiaries, expressing hope that the programme would be extended to accommodate more youths and technicians, subject to government approval.
He urged the beneficiaries to put the knowledge acquired into practice, stressing that the completion of the training marked the beginning of their professional journey.
Dare also encouraged the participants to collaborate and work together to achieve success and contribute to the development of CNG conversion in Maiduguri.
He, however, expressed pleasant surprise at the peaceful atmosphere in Maiduguri, saying the reality on the ground was different from the impression created by reports about the city.
Mr Oladayo Femi, one of the instructors, said the training had successfully equipped participants with practical skills required to convert petrol-powered vehicles to CNG.
Femi said the participants successfully converted a vehicle from petrol to CNG during the training, adding that they were now better positioned to apply the skills in their various workshops.
One of the beneficiaries, Aloma Bilayi from Bagaru, thanked the government and organisers for the opportunity, saying the training had significantly improved her knowledge and skills.
