The Senate on Thursday confirmed the appointment of Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The confirmation followed a letter sent by President Bola Tinubu to the Senate on Wednesday, seeking formal approval of the appointment.
During plenary, Senator Babangida Hussaini (Walin Kazaure), Representing Jigawa North-West Senatorial District) said his contribution was to wish the nominee good luck. He noted that he had served in the ministry for five years as both Deputy Director and Director, and by that virtue possesses considerable knowledge of the housing sector.

He added that Nigeria’s housing deficit is frequently estimated at about 15 million units, stated that despite numerous housing policies in the country and the construction of thousands of houses during the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, many of these houses remain unoccupied.
Senator Hussaini warned that the situation has exposed many of the unoccupied houses to vandalism and theft across the country, noted that there is the need for the government to sell off these completed houses and called for greater involvement of public private partners in providing housing solutions.
