The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the commencement of a Police Welfare Bus Scheme aimed at easing transportation challenges for its personnel across Abuja and it’s environs.
Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, disclosed that the initiative, approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, will officially begin operations on Monday, April 27, 2026 in a statement credited to the Spokesperson of the Command Josephine Adeh.
The statement further stressed that three Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered buses have been deployed to serve designated routes within the FCT. The move is part of broader efforts to improve officers’ welfare and ensure smoother daily commute to duty posts.
The operational patterns of the Buses includes;One of the buses will operate from the Goshen–Auta-Balefi axis, passing through Masaka, Mararaba, and Nyanya, with its final stop at the Force Headquarters in Area 11, Abuja. Another bus will depart from Zuba Divisional Headquarters, covering Madalla, Abubakar Police Barracks, Brick City, Kubwa, Dutse Junction, and the Secretariat before terminating at the same destination.
The third bus will take its journey from Kuje Divisional Headquarters, moving through Kuje Police Barracks, Airport Road, Lugbe, and the Stadium axis, also ending at Area 11.

All buses are scheduled to leave their respective starting points daily at 6:15 a.m.
Sanusi commended the Inspector-General for introducing the scheme, describing it as a significant steps toward improving the welfare, morale, and working conditions of police personnel noting that better welfare support would ultimately enhance discipline, efficiency, and service delivery within the Command.
The Commissioner further encouraged officers and men of the force to take full advantage of the initiative as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness.
