Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has flagged off the distribution of 600,000 metric tonnes of NPK fertilizer for 2026 session farming in the state.
Speaking during the occasion, Governor Idris informed the gathering that government has procured the fertilizer in order to met up with the target in this year’s farming season so as to record a successful cultivation by farmers across the state.
He said the distribution will cover 3,743 polling units of the state and 1,200 are expected to benefit from the sharing, added that every farmer in the mentioned polling units will receive bags of fertilizer allocated to him from the committee of distribution free of charge.
In addition the governor explained that the farmers will receive 1,000 seeds from the committee to enhance their farming activities, called on traditional and religious leaders to help the government in monitoring the distribution of the fertilizer across the designated areas and polling units in the state.
The governor also noted that the fertilizer is mainly for farming to enhance food security and warned that anyone caught diversion or selling it would be arrested and protected.
