The Gombe State Government has expressed readiness to partner with the BREACH Initiative for Leadership Development to ensure the successful hosting of the 2026 International Youth Day celebration, aimed at promoting youth leadership, civic responsibility and security awareness.
The assurance came during separate advocacy visits by the organisation to key government officials, including the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Hon. Adamu Dishi Kupto; the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Yusuf Abdu Kwadom; the Project Coordinator of NEWMAP-EIB, Dr. Shitu Whanda; and the Executive Chairperson of the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service, Hajiya Aishatu Adamu Yaro.

The delegation was led by the Team Lead of the BREACH Initiative, Comrade Abdul’azeez Sani Labaran, alongside Abubakar Waziri of Access Initiative, Yasir Aliyu Dala of FOYEA and other representatives of partner organisations.
During the engagements, the team sought collaboration with relevant ministries, departments and agencies ahead of the International Youth Day celebration scheduled for August 12, 2026.
The organisation also unveiled plans for a “3-in-1” programme with the theme, “Empowering Young People for Sustainable Leadership and Nation Building.” According to the organisers, the event will feature a parade by non-conventional security groups at the Emir’s Palace, a peaceful awareness procession to the Government House, and a dinner and award ceremony to honour outstanding young people.
Speaking during the visits, Labaran said the initiative is designed to strengthen youth participation in nation-building, promote responsible leadership and deepen collaboration between government institutions and young people.

The officials commended the initiative and pledged government support, describing it as a timely intervention that complements the state’s efforts to empower young people and promote peace and security.
They noted that the programme would provide a platform to showcase the talents, creativity and leadership potential of youths while advancing the vision of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration on youth development and sustainable growth.
