The Jigawa State Hisbah Corps has received a complaint alleging repeated homosexual acts involving a 22-year-old man in Kazaure Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement signed and made available to newsmen by the Public Relations Officer Hisbah Board, Dauda Muhammad Hadejia, said the complainant, a resident of Kanti area in Kazaure town, reportedly told the Kazaure Hisbah authorities that nine individuals had allegedly engaged in homosexual acts with him on different occasions.
According to the complainant, he subsequently contracted HIV, which he attributed to the alleged acts, appealed to the Hisbah authorities to seek justice over what he described as the deception and actions that had negatively affected his life.
Following the complaint, Hisbah operatives launched an investigation and began searching for the nine individuals named by the complainant. So far, eight of the suspects have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining suspect.
During preliminary investigations, the eight arrested suspects reportedly admitted to having engaged in homosexual acts with the complainant.
The Hisbah Corps said it has compiled the relevant information and evidence for presentation before a court.
Speaking on the development, the Deputy Commander-General of the Jigawa State Hisbah Corps, Dr. Hussain Yusuf Baban, urged parents to pay greater attention to the upbringing of their children and monitor the people with whom they associate, called on members of the public to fear God and remain mindful of the consequences of their actions.
He expressed appreciation to the Jigawa State Government for its support and cooperation with the Hisbah Corps in carrying out its responsibilities.
