*2026 Jigawa State Law Review Project to commence

Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the expansion of the scope of earlier approval granted for the establishment of Solar Panel Assembly Plant to include a Lithium Battery Energy Storage Assembly Plant.
The development was in line with the commitment of His Excellency, Malam Umar A. Namadi administration’s effort to broaden the Jigawa State’s industrial base and promote sustainable energy development.
Briefing newsmen, Commissioner of Information Youth Sports and Culture, Hon. Sagir Musa Ahmed said the expansion work include inclusion of lithium battery energy storage assembly alongside the solar panel assembly operations will create an integrated renewable energy manufacturing platform capable of supporting the growing demand for clean and reliable energy solutions that would position Jigawa as a one-stop production centre for solar and energy storage product servicing state.
According to him, the extended project has retained the existing 49% equity interest for Jigawa State and 51% equity interest for the project partner TESNI Energy Ltd.
The proposed expansion will strengthen the project’s economic value to Jigawa State, broaden the range of products to be assemble locally, create further opportunities for skilled employment and technical training, support businesses involved as well as the value of Jigawa State investment in company.
In a related development, the council in session has approved the work plan presented by the Ministry of Justice for the immediate commencement of the 2026 Jigawa State Law Review Project, a comprehensive initiative aimed at reviewing, reforming, consolidating and modernizing the laws of Jigawa State.
The approval represents an important step towards strengthening the State’s legal and institutional framework.
As part of the approval, the Council has approved the composition of the Project Secretariat, as well as the establishment of the Steering and Technical Committees, which will provide strategic direction, technical expertise and effective coordination throughout the review process.
Council has also approved the commencement of the procurement process for the necessary equipment and digital resources required to support the project.

The initiative is consistent with the commitment of His Excellency’s Namadi Administration 12-Point Agenda, particularly the objective of ensuring effective policy implementation, strengthening public institutions, promoting governance transparency and enhancing public accountability.
The reform will also contribute to the Administration’s broader objective of leaving a sustainable institutional legacy through the establishment of a clear, coherent and modern legal framework capable of supporting development, protecting public interest and responding effectively to emerging social, economic, technological and governance challenges.
