While observing a long held understanding about the Kano state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s political sagacity and maturity, the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, described the governor as one of the most misunderstood, but calculative governor in the country.
Garba made the observation during the opening ceremony of 2021 Biennial Convention of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), held at Tahir Guest Palace Hotel, Kano, Monday, adding that, regret awaited those who misunderstood the governor.
In a statement Abba Anwar by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kano State, Abba Anwar said “The most misunderstood and calculative governor in the country is the governor of my state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. All of those who underrated him are now regretting,” he challenged.
Garba, a former President of NGE, commended the governor for transforming Kano into a more modern city, with many critical infrastructures all over the place. “This is highly commendable,” he appreciated.
The statement according to Garba Shehu described the state as one of the safest states in the federation, Garba calls other states to copy from Kano state.
In his brief remarks the former governor of Ogun state, Dr Aremu Olusegun Osoba, commended the security architecture being in place in the state and urged other states in the federation to copy from the state.
“Kano state governor, our own, yes our own, does not allow criminals to find their ways in the state. This is highly commendable and absolutely encouraging,” he said.
After revealing that many Editors have been nurturing chance and opportunity to write on the governor, he said “Today is a special day for these groups of people Your Excellency. They are here to have direct assessment of yourself and of your good work in the state.”
“When I said our own, I really mean our own. He was in Ibadan for four years during his PhD days. He got his PhD from the famous University of Ibadan and he gave out his daughter to our son,” he said.
He further argued that, “Whatever I said here is nothing but fact. As a reporter when I see fact I report fact. So whatever I am saying here are the basic facts.”
