The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano state under the leadsership of the satte governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has in a grand celebration received foremost politicians that have decamped from various political parties on democracy day.
Hotpen reports that, most of the decampees from Kano and 27 other states across Nigeria are from the Kwankwasiyya faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) while others are from other political parties.
A former gubernatorial candidate of the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) in the 2019 geenrla elections, Alhaji Abdulsalam Zaura, a leading politician Alhaji Sagir Takai and one time gubernatorial candidate of ANPP, PRP and the PDP in past general elections and an ex-spoke person of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Hajiya Binta Rabiu Spikin were among received as decampees to the ruling APC.
Others include the leading politicians who joined the APC, the North West Chairman of the Kwankwasiyya faction of the PDP, Muhammad Abubakar Jada as well as the son of the former Head of state, Abba Riskuwa Murtala Muhammad.
Receiving the decampees on behalf of the APC National acting Chairman, Mai Mala Buni, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state welcome them to the party and handed them over to the representative of the National Acting Chairman Faruk Adamu Aliyu to hand them over for onward transmission into the party.
His words:- “You are welcome to this historic and memorable event commemorating democracy in Nigeria that came about as a result of annulling the June 12 election of Chief MKO Abiola, we now all have equal status, equal standing and equal respect in the APC”.
In his welcome speech, the new members, the state chairman of the APC, Abdulahi Abbas praised president Buhari for his efforts in fighting against insecurity and other crises bedeviling the country, saying Nigeria would have by now been overwhelmed not for his effort.
Said he:-“President Muhammadu Buhari is doing his best and must be praised for his effort because if it were someone else the country would have since been overwhelmed. Due to the expertise of the president Nigeria is now doing well and I assure you that Nigeria will be better by December this year.
According to Abdullahi, the acting Chairman of our great party Mai Mala Buni has shown his worth with his performance so far, especially with the caliber of people that are now joining the party, three gubernatorial candidates and a member of the House of representative.
He explained the reason why they decamp to the ruling APC, they said they were impressed by the performance of the President and governor Ganduje especially in the part of infrastructure and economic development.
