The Wife of Kano State Governor, Prof. Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to continue supporting the development of education.
A statement issued by the Ministry of education Public Relations Officers, Aliyu Yusuf said, Hafsat Ganduje maintained that present administration since inception six years ago has been doing extremely well in supporting the development of education sector in the state.
Prof. Hafsat was speaking during a symbolic flag off of a 3-day workshop on Alternative Source of School Financing, Resource and Improvisation for 600 Principals/ Directors of Secondary Schools across the state.
The introduction of Free and Compulsory Education law initiated by the present administration according to her was done to ensure that children are provided with accessible, affordable, qualitative and sustainable education.
She added that the policy is one of the best achievements recorded in the sector in the recent years, stressing that a lot of policies and projects were also provided in the state.
On the workshop, Prof. Hafsat commended the foresight of the organisers, observing that it is timely considering the current economic situation and the need to improve the capacity of school administrators in terms of financial management and resource mobilisation.
She therefore appealed to the participants to take good advantage of the workshop by ensure maximum participation by paying adequate attention throughout the three-day event.
In his welcome address, the state Commissioner of Education, Malam Muhammad Sanusi Sa’id Kiru disclosed that Kano has been on the Frontline in prioritizing it’s Education sector.
He added that the political will of the governor was the secret behind the successes been recorded ranging from Free and Compulsory Education, payment of upkeep allowances to various schools, review of feeding for Boarding Secondary Schools, payment of NECO Examination, as well as constructions and renovations of schools among others.
The commissioner therefore, call on the participants to reciprocate the kind gesture extended to them by putting into practice the knowledge acquired in the programme.
Remarking, the Chief consultant from the Nigerian Association for Education Administration and Planning (NAEAP), Prof. Bello A. Bello revealed that, the aim of the training was to acquaint the participants with techniques on how to generate resources to compliment government in financing in their respective schools.
In his vote of thanks, the Executive Secretary KSSSSMB, Dr. Bello Shehu expressed gratitude to the government for its untiring support to the state education sector.
