The Jigawa state government has announced the death of former military governor of the state, Brigadier General Ibrahim Aliyu.
This was contained in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Dutse by the Special Adviser to the Jigawa state governor on Media and Public Relations, Habibu Nuhu Kila.
The statement stated that, Brigadier General Ibrahim Aliyu rtd. died on Friday in his Kaduna residence after a protracted illness and he has been buried on Saturday according to Islamic rites.
In a condolence message, Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar described the death of General Aliyu as a great loss not to only to the people and government of Jigawa state but the nation and muslim ummah at large.
He explained that, the late General sacrificed his life in the service of humanity and his name will remain indelible in the history of Jigawa state development.
Hotpen report that early this month, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo visited Jigawa state to commissioned a road named after General Ibrahim Aliyu as part of recognition of his contribution to the state.
Governor Badaru prayed for Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest and condole his family and people of Jigawa State the fortitude to bear the loss.
Brigadier General Ibrahim Aliyu was the military administrator of Jigawa state from December 1993 to August 1996 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha.
