The Commissioner of Police Kaduna State Command and his management team went on a familiarization and confidence-building tour of the chiefdoms of Zango, Kagoro, and Jema’a, where he assured the traditional institutions and people of the various communities of an improved security environment and increased deployment of more security personnel to curb the recent upsurge in communal violence.
The choice of these areas for the Commissioner of Police’s first official tour is intended to calm the rising communal tensions in the chiefdoms.
He went to the said communities with the honorable Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, the DC Operations DCP Mustapha Bala Area Commander Kafanchan ACP Danladi Ibrahim, and some of his tactical commanders for an interface so that they can appreciate the task of restoring peace and order in these areas, as well as the Commissioner’s commitment.
This was contained in a press release made available to journalists in Kaduna.
The police chief further asserts that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to encourage everyone to embrace dialogue as a valuable tool in the pursuit of peace. He went on to say that no society can develop in an atmosphere of animosity and fear, so when it comes to communities as agrarian settlements, the importance of ensuring peaceful coexistence cannot be overstated, especially during the current farming season.
He believes that taking advantage of the season in a peaceful setting will increase food production and improve the state’s food security.
In a similar vein, the Commissioner of Police warned all warring factions to refrain from enforcing their own laws, as there are established authorities to deal with their grievances.
