As Part of its efforts to ensure smooth conduct of e-learning, teaching, research and automation systems, Federal University Dutse has awarded contract worth N5m to Globacom Limited for the installation of internet service in the campus.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Abdulkarim Mohammed stated this while speaking at the second media interactive session with the working journalists in Jigawa state held at the senate chamber, said when completed the project will provide 45 megabyte/sec of internet service to the university, added that the unlimited service through Wifi will enable students and lecturers within the campus to have access to internet.
Prof. Abdulkarim explained that work is currently going for the upgrade or installation of boosters that will connect the service to every nook and cranny of the university, stressed that a password will be assigned to each of the student`s phone to enable him log on and apart from him no body can access the service.
The Vice Chancellor pointed out that the university has equally developed a new student result processing module paving way for students to access their result using their mobile phones, saying senate is working on the issue immediately it is approved the system will start working in earnest.
His words:- “The era of pasting student result on notice board is gone for good, the result is being fine-tuned in such a way that parents will soon be allowed to have access to their children result from the comfort of their homes such that no student will manipulate their parent. ”
The VC also extend his condolence and sympathy to the members of the Correspondent Chapel, the family and the entire media establishment in the state over the demise of the Chapel`s Chairman, Ahmed Abubakar who died three weeks ago.
He described the late chairman as a fine gentle man who carried himself with dignity and decorum throughout his career as a journalist, he prays for Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdausi.
