HOTPEN Online Editor, 19 Others Emerge Journalists Against Corruption Champions
HOTPEN – An Online Editor with HOTPEN Newspaper, a publication of Dangida Multimedia has been selected to participate in the Journalist Against Corruption Campaign.
Rabiu Musa, who doubled as the Senior Project Manager was selected alongside 19 other journalists from 6 states of the Federation.
According to a statement by the Project Officer, Journalist for Accountability, Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) Buhari Abba, said CITAD with the support from MacArthur Foundation is set to organize training and improve the capacity of journalists to investigate and report corrupt practices through a competitive process.
The statement revealed that “Winners of the competition will be awarded sub-grant to support their investigation, report on corruption, write-up that expose and raise awareness about corruption”.
The statement noted that the program will take place in 3 phases:
“The first part is a capacity building training. The twenty (20) selected journalists will undergo a two-day training to improve their investigation capacity as well as accountability reporting skills”.
“The second phase includes submission of proposal after the training, where 10 of the trained journalists will be given a sub-grant to investigate some concrete corruption or accountability issue at the community level”.
“The final which is the third stage involves the team of judges where they’ll select three out of the submitted reports to be given various gifts and be celebrated as well as have their reports promoted in various media”.
