The Jigawa State College of Education and Legal Studies Ringim has secured government approval to commence Degree programs in some courses.
The Provost of the Institution, Dr Suleiman Haruna made this known at the 3rd annual conference organized by the academic staff union of the college held at the college in Ringim.
According to the Provost, the courses approved by Jigawa state government include B.A. Ed Arabic, English, Hausa, History, Islamic studies and B.A. Ed Primary education respectively.
Dr. Suleiman Haruna explained further that the state government has constructed three additional classrooms, a 250-capacity lecture hall in the college, as part of its continued efforts towards revitalizing the education sector.
He then called on the state government to look into the challenges facing the college which include inadequate teaching and none teaching staff, offices and library facilities to make the college compete with it`s sister colleges.
The chairman of the occasion Dr Abbas Abubakar Abbas called on all stakeholders to collectively salvage the education sector for the betterment of the younger generation In his remarks, chairman of the Union Comrade Auwal Haruna said the aim of the conference was to make deliberation with a view to providing solution on some national issues.
