Islamic Cleric Laments Rising Insecurity in Nigeria

HOTPEN – A renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dabiru Usman Bauchi has expressed concern over the spate of insecurity in the country, urging the government at all levels to take proactive measures toward curtailing the macabre of the situation.
The scholar made the call in Kaduna when he received a team of Northern Nigerian Christians at his residence to breakfast together and enhance mutual understanding, and promote peace, unity among the faithful.
He expressed happiness about the visit while thanking the Christians from various northern states for promoting peace and unity in the country.
Sheikh Bauchi emphasized the need for more prayers in the land for Nigeria to overcome the current insecurity challenges.
While calling on leaders to remember the day of judgment, he urged Muslims and Christian to always live in peace and harmony.
Earlier, in his remarks the leader of the delegation of the clerics from part of the 19 northern states of Nigeria under the leadership of Pastor Yohanna Buru said, the aim of joining other Muslim Scholars to have Iftar together is to strengthen the Christians-Muslims relationship and promote better understanding among the two faiths in Nigeria.
According to Pastor Buru, who is the General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna said the development will surface unity and promote understanding in this trying time in the country.
He revealed neighboring that for the past 11th years they have taken a peace campaign during iftar to mix and interact with most Nigerian Islamic scholars, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad all, Sheikh Ibrahim Yakub ElZazzaky, Sheikh Salihu Mai-Baroda, Sheikh Mohammed ibn Abdul of Niger State, as well as to some neighboring African countries like Niger and Benin republics to preach and promote peace and unity during iftar.
