HOTPEN – Kano State Government has pledged to ensure early completion of the ongoing construction of 30 corner shops at the NUJ Press Center, Kano.
The vow was made by the state Commissioner for Information Malam Muhammad Garba while on an inspection visit to the project site on Friday.
Malam Garba while expressing his satisfaction with the progress of the work, said the state government would continue to partner with journalists for the overall development of society.
He said the project, when finalized, would allow journalists to earn more revenue that would continue to make them independent in the discharge of their duties.
He gave assurances to the contractor on behalf of the government of Kano state that no stone will be left unturned until the project is completed on time.
The commissioner also expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing renovation of the NUN Conference Centre.
In his remarks, the Kano state Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim, expressed his gratitude through the commissioner to his Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for his relentless efforts towards seeing to the welfare of journalists in the state.
Comrade Abbas appealed to journalists in the state to work by the ethics of the profession, especially in this season of 2023 General Election Campaigns.
