Jigawa state governor, and his Kano state counterpart, Mal. Umar A. Namadi and Abba Kabir Yusuf, former Jigawa and Kano State Governors, Sule Lamido and Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso were among several dignitaries in attendance during the funeral prayers of late Sardaunan Dutse, Sheikh Dr. Bello Maitama Yusuf.
Hotpen reports that, Bello Maitama who until his death the Sardauna of Dutse, he died at early hours of Friday at the age of 76 after a protracteness illness at his Tarauni residence in Kano City.
Late Bello Maitama who served as the youngest minister of commerce and sport in the first republic during the regime of late Ahaji Shehu Shagari.
He was a one time Senator Representing Jigawa central and served in various capacity during his life time. He was also a strong pillar in Gwaram, Jigawa and Nigeria’s politics.
Other dignitaries in attendance during the funeral prayers include deputy governors of Kano and Jigawa, Aminu Abdulsalam and Aminu Usman, Alhaji Bashir Ɗalhatu, (Wazirin Dutse) Alh. Basiru Nuhu Sanusi (Galadiman Dutse) and Justice Tijjani Abubakar among several others.
The funeral prayer was conducted at the Kano emir’s palace Kofar Kudu after Juma’ah prayers.
Sule Lamido described the death of Bello Maitama as a great loss not only to his immediate families, Jigawa, Muslims or Nigeria but to all, saying his contributions in the development of nation politics, philanthropic and religious kind gesture will forever be remembered.
The deceased left behind 2 wives and 10 children with many grandchildren.
