A politician and philanthropist in Zamfara State Hon. Yazeed Shehu Danfulani has awarded scholarship to two hundred female students to pursue various N.C.E. programmes at Federal College of Education (Technical) Gusau.
Speaking at the presentation of admission letters and evidence of payment to the first batch of thirty five beneficiaries on Sunday in Gusau, whose admission into the College has so far been secured and tuition fees paid, the Coordinator of the Programme Yusuf Muhammad MD said the scholarship will be fully funded and those who excelled will receive additional support to further their education.
“Admission for more fifteen students would be ready next week as additional applications are being considered to fill the two hundred slots”, he said.
Yusuf maintained that the intervention is aimed at bridging the gap between males and females in terms of education particularly vulnerable women.
According to him, the scholarship will be extended to four other institutions of higher learning in Zamfara State where 200 newly admitted students would be selected in each school”, Yusuf maintained.
In his remark, the Zamfara state chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC Hon. Tukur Danfulani represented by the party’s Welfare Officer, Bashir Idris Ataka commended Hon. Yazid Danfulani for his foresight and commitment to educational development, calling other politicians to emulate him in that regard.
However, some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude over the scholarship and promised to work hard towards achieving academic excellence.
