The wife of Kebbi state Governor Dr Nasir İdris has called on women to engage in small scale businesses to support their families.
In a statement signed and made available to Hotpen by the Press Secretary to the wife of the Governor, Binta Abdulhamid, said the wife of the state governor made the call at an empowerment program of 200 women with small scale Bussinesses in Kende district of Bagudo local government, which took place at the palace of District head of Kende Alh. Aliyu Dauda Zagga, organized by Nafisa Nasir women and children initiative (NNWCI).
Dr Nafisa Nasir who was represented by the state commissioner of women and social development Hajia Halima Hassan Kamba said the aim of empowering the women was to cushion the effects of hardship people are currently facing, calling on them to make good use of the money, adding that plans are on the way to provide more empowerment programs through her ministry.
She commended the present administration for improving the living standard of women in the state.
Speaking to journalists, the Executive secretary primary health care, Alh Abubakar Atiku Kende, commended Dr Nafisa Nasir for her kind gesture, describing it as highly commendable and worthy of emulation, calling on the beneficiaries to make good use of the money so as to achieve the purpose of providing the support.
Former local government Chairman, Alh. Sambo Zagga also commended the wife of the Governor for providing the support to women of Kende, saying she has been providing such support for years even before the inception of the present administration, prayed to God to bless her abundantly.
Hotpen reports that, each of the 200 women was given the sum of N10,000 each to support her business.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to journalists thanked Dr Nafisa Nasir for the support and prayed to God to reward her abundantly, promising to use the money judiciously.
The wife of the Governor was accompanied by wife of Head service, Chairperson ANCOPPS, and wives of commissioners.
Highlights of the event were entertainment and presentation of cash to the beneficiaries.
