World Bank through Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL)Jigawa state has earmarked whooping sum of $50 thousands equivalent to N70million as Community Revolving Fund for two districts under watersheds in the state.
Speaking at the official launching of the CRF mission, ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Abdulhamid Umar, said the benefitting communities includes Gamsarka in Auyo local government and Dabi in Ringim local government area respectively and the purpose of providing the loan as CRF was meant to boost their economy.
Abdulhamid explained that the two communities have 10 groups each making 20 for the 2 benefiting districts and will received N35million each, added that Jigawa state was selected among the 8 CRF states due to its versed with agribusiness enterprises and large-scale farming activities.
His words:-“As we embark on this mission, I am honored to shed light on the importance and impact of this endeavor. Jigawa is chosen to be the first to pilot the implementation of CRF.
“One of the goals of CRF is to enhance community welfare and increase understanding and adoption of sustainable agricultural practices to increase output.
“We are not just inaugurating a financial mechanism; but we are ushering in a new era of community-led development. We are reaffirming our commitment to putting people at the center of development efforts and ensuring that no community is left behind”.
He further noted that CRF initiatives as a loan investment represent a ground-breaking approach to addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing the agricultural business enterprises, and in recognizing the critical role communities play in driving progress and fostering resilience in farming activities.
“The World Bank under Acresal led by our hardworking task team leader Dr Joy Iganya joined hands with the rest of the task team leaders to establish this innovative financial mechanism to improve the production capacity of our farmers”. The ACReSAL PC stressed.
The ACReSAL team commended the support and understanding under the leadership of His Excellency Mallam Umar Namadi in assisting to fast-track the implementation of CRF across the two watersheds. The ACReSAL team equally expressed deepest gratitude to Mr ASHTOUSH for always giving the necessary knowledge to move forward.
Hotpen reports that, the two watersheds namely Hadejia and Ringim have 10 communities each, out of which Dabi and Gamsarka communities were selected to pilot CRF implementation, with 10 Community interest groups (CIGs) selected under due diligence.
